Location: This role is based in the Chicago area and is field-based, with time spent at active job sites as needed to support project execution.

Note: Must have ample heavy civil experience and prior superintendent or field leadership experience in civil construction. Candidates without direct heavy civil field experience will not be considered.

Job Description

  • Lead day-to-day field operations on heavy civil construction projects
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and site logistics
  • Drive safe, on-schedule, high-quality execution in the field
  • Maintain look-ahead planning and help resolve sequencing or coordination issues before they impact production
  • Partner with project management, foremen, and field teams to keep work aligned with plans and project goals
  • Track daily production, site progress, and field issues
  • Communicate with owners, inspectors, engineers, and trade partners as needed
  • Support quality control, documentation, punch list items, and project closeout activities
  • Help reinforce accountability, teamwork, and strong field performance across the job site

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of directly relevant heavy civil construction experience
  • Prior superintendent, general superintendent, foreman, or similar field leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Background in heavy civil, foundations, concrete, earthwork, utilities, drilling, or related sitework
  • Strong knowledge of field safety, sequencing, site coordination, and production management
  • Able to lead crews and keep work moving in a fast-paced field environment
  • Valid driver’s license required
