We are partnering with a middle market, private‑equity‑backed organization to identify a senior finance operations leader to build and scale its shared services function. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on leadership role responsible for stabilizing and professionalizing accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and transaction accounting processes in an environment that has outgrown its existing finance infrastructure. Reporting to the CFO, the role requires a leader who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves initially — building structure, improving processes, implementing systems, and developing talent — with a clear path to evolve into a more strategic leadership role as the function matures.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and stabilize end‑to‑end shared services and operational accounting functions, including AP, AR, billing, and transaction accounting
- Assess current‑state processes and design scalable, standardized workflows and controls
- Serve as a hands‑on leader during the initial phase, including stepping into day‑to‑day processing as needed to ensure continuity and accuracy
- Build and develop a high‑performing shared services organization, including hiring, onboarding, and coaching leaders and team members
- Establish clear scorecards, KPIs, service‑level metrics, and accountability across all transactional processes
- Drive system optimization and automation initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility
- Partner closely with senior finance leadership to relieve operational burden and enable greater strategic focus
- Support integration of future acquisitions through process alignment and system scalability
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Senior‑level finance operations leader with deep experience in shared services, operational accounting, or transaction accounting
- Proven expertise across AP, AR, and billing in high‑volume, complex environments
- Demonstrated success building structure in under‑developed or fast‑growth organizations
- Strong process‑design mindset with experience implementing or optimizing finance systems and automation tools
- Comfortable being hands‑on initially and leading through execution, not just oversight
- Track record of building teams, establishing metrics, and driving accountability
- ERP experience strongly preferred (experience with modern, cloud‑based ERP systems a plus)
- Practical, resilient leadership style with the ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity
