Director, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
Ascension Search Partners has been engaged by a private equity backed, middle market healthcare services organization who are hiring an Assistant Controller managing both technical accounting/reporting and day‑to‑day accounting operations, with an emphasis on complex lease accounting, fixed assets, and debt/equity accounting. The role oversees a small team, coordinates extensively with outsourced providers, and plays a central role in acquisition accounting as the company prepares for additional M&A activity. This leader will be expected to strengthen processes, enhance system utilization, and instill accountability across the team.
Primary Duties:
Technical Accounting & Reporting

Oversee monthly debt covenant reporting and debt/equity accounting.

Lead acquisition accounting for recent and upcoming transactions.

Review or oversee preparation of technical accounting memos produced by consultants.

Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements and footnotes.

Provide technical guidance on complex accounting issues, including capital structure considerations under new ownership.
Operational Accounting Leadership

Lead and oversee lease accounting including managing outsourced provider.

Supervise fixed asset and project accounting functions.

Improve processes, data integrity, and performance expectations across the accounting team.
- Strengthen internal controls, standardize procedures, and drive systems adoption and data accuracy.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Accounting preferred
- Active CPA required
- 8 years of relevant experience spanning public accounting and industry
- Must have both technical depth (debt, equity, acquisition accounting) and hands‑on operational accounting leadership.
- Ability to work with large data volumes and quickly pick up and optimize systems; strong data orientation required.
- Prior experience overseeing outsourced service providers preferred.
- Leadership style: proactive, process‑improvement‑oriented, capable of elevating team performance.
