CFO
Our client is a growing lower‑middle‑market company backed by a leading private equity firm. The business is entering its next phase of expansion, with a strong focus on operational excellence, strategic growth, and disciplined financial management. We are seeking a hands-on, execution‑oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to partner with the CEO, PE sponsors, and leadership team to drive performance and accelerate value creation.
Role Overview
The CFO will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for all financial functions, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, reporting, compliance, and M&A support. This role requires a proactive, detail‑driven executive who thrives in dynamic environments and can build scalable processes while maintaining a roll‑up‑your‑sleeves mentality.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Value Creation
- Partner with the CEO and private equity sponsors to define and execute the company’s strategic plan.
- Lead financial modeling, scenario planning, and KPI development to support growth initiatives.
- Drive operational improvements, margin expansion, and cash‑flow optimization.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting, FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Ensure timely, accurate monthly/quarterly financial reporting and board packages.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial systems, and reporting processes to support scale.
Operational Finance & Performance Management
- Implement dashboards, metrics, and analytics to improve visibility and decision‑making.
- Partner with operations, sales, and supply chain to enhance profitability and efficiency.
- Lead working capital management, including AR, AP, inventory, and cash forecasting.
M&A & Capital Structure
- Support buy‑side and integration activities, including due diligence and financial modeling.
- Manage lender relationships, covenant compliance, and capital structure optimization.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and lead financial components of strategic initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance leader in a private‑equity–backed or entrepreneurial environment.
- Background in lower‑middle‑market or middle‑market companies strongly preferred.
- Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, and operational finance.
- Demonstrated success improving systems, processes, and controls.
- Experience with M&A, integrations, and lender/investor relations.
- Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required.
- Analytical, decisive, and highly execution‑focused.
- Comfortable in fast‑moving, evolving environments.
- Skilled at building structure and discipline without slowing momentum.
- Motivated by value creation and measurable performance improvement.
