Director of Cost Accounting
CooperDouglas is partnering with a food & beverage manufacturing company in the Los Angeles area to hire a Director of Cost Accounting. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role within a fast growing, acquisitive business and have a direct impact on how the function is built and scaled. This is an on site role based in Los Angeles. This is a high impact leadership position within a business that is actively acquiring and integrating companies. The Director will own cost accounting across a complex, multi entity environment and play a key role in building scalable processes, improving visibility into margins, and supporting post acquisition integration.
What you will do
- Own and lead the cost accounting function across multiple entities
- Oversee inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold
- Build and refine cost models to support pricing, forecasting, and operational decision making
- Partner closely with operations, supply chain, and FP&A to drive cost efficiencies and margin improvement
- Support acquisition integration, including aligning cost structures and ensuring consistency across entities
- Oversee month end close related to inventory and cost accounting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
- Support audits and work closely with external auditors
- Build and develop a high performing accounting team
What we are looking for
- Strong cost accounting experience within manufacturing or a product based environment
- Experience operating in a multi entity or acquisitive environment
- Hands on leader who can operate both strategically and in the details
- Strong understanding of inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis
- Experience partnering cross functionally with operations and supply chain
- CPA required, Big 4 background highly preferred
Compensation
$260K base + bonus and equity
