CooperDouglas is exclusively partnering with a leading PE-backed distribution leader to hire their newly created Director of Financial Planning & Analysis overseeing their central region. As the Director of FP&A, you will be a senior financial leader responsible for driving strategic financial planning, analysis, and performance management across the region. This role partners with cross-functional leadership to deliver actionable insights, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure the alignment of financial strategies with business objectives. The FP&A Director oversees budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, while identifying opportunities to optimize financial performance, enhance profitability, and mitigate risks.
Responsibilities:
- Set the financial strategy for region in alignment with enterprise-wide objectives
- Own financial modeling of key initiatives and projects impacting the Central region.
- Lead forecasting and budgeting processes and coordination with all functional leaders on sales, margin, and spending plans
- Lead preparation and presentation of materials for key meeting updates with the Leadership Team including MBRs, QBRs, budgets, forecasts, earnings call preparation and Board of Directors presentations
- Own and drive value-added analytics for monthly and quarterly results and outlook to support managing the region
- Work effectively across the Central region to research variances, understand trends and incorporate new information into future forecasts
- Monitor and review SG&A spending, identify trends / issues and lead resolution of problems
- Prepare and present Monthly Financial Results to Corporate Leadership with analysis of sales, margin and detailed SG&A by department
- Lead the five-year long-range plan, helping to establish long-term goals for the business and to identify and quantify the initiatives to achieve them
- Define the needed business cases with project teams and process owners including business outcomes and implementation plans
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions; bring together key stakeholders and drive decisions
- Prioritize overall company initiatives to create path forward on value creation, removing roadblocks and managing change
- Establish best-in-class FP&A capabilities, tools, and analytical standards across FP&A
- Partner with broader Financial Planning & Analysis teams on capturing P&L impacts in consolidated company forecasts and budgets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, MBA preferred
- 12+ years progressive FP&A/accounting leadership at PE-backed distributors, driving P&L oversight for $1B+ regional/multi-site portfolios
- Proven track record in budgeting/forecasting, sales/margin analytics, acquisition integrations, variance analysis, and headcount/cost optimization
- Advanced Excel/SQL mastery for executive dashboards, cash flow/inventory modeling, and month-end automation
- ERP experience SAP highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Ability to travel domestically up to 5%
Salary: $180,000-220,000 + annual bonus + LTI!
