CooperDouglas has partnered with a growing manufacturing company in Long Island on a search for a Division Controller to oversee one of their business units. This individual will lead the accounting and finance function for the division and play a key role in rebuilding and improving the overall finance organization.
The ideal candidate is someone comfortable stepping into an evolving environment, improving processes, resolving accounting challenges, and building structure within a smaller manufacturing operation.
This role is fully on-site and will initially operate with a lean team structure. The Controller will have significant visibility and autonomy within the division.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all accounting and finance activities for the division
- Own month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger oversight
- Improve accounting processes, controls, and overall financial structure
- Partner with leadership on operational and financial improvements
- Assist with team restructuring and future hiring within the accounting function
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Oversee QuickBooks environment and help drive process improvements
- Support operational and accounting improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- BIG 4 background preferred, ideally coming out of Manager or Senior Manager level, or strong Mid-Tier public accounting experience
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Must have private industry/manufacturing experience in addition to public accounting — no straight public accounting profiles
- Comfortable operating independently within a smaller division environment
- Hands-on mentality with willingness to roll up sleeves
- Experience working in high-growth, transitional, or evolving environments is highly preferred
- CPA preferred
