CooperDouglas is partnering with a growing California general contractor focused on multifamily and affordable housing, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the financial function across a multi-project portfolio. This individual will oversee all accounting, project finance, and reporting while partnering with executive leadership to support strategic growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close
- Oversee project budgets, job costing, commitments, change orders, and cost forecasting
- Monitor project financial performance and drive corrective action on variances
- Manage subcontractor billings, pay applications, retainage, and compliance
- Coordinate construction loan draws and project cash flow
- Deliver monthly profitability reporting and WIP analysis to leadership
- Strengthen financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 10+ years of accounting/finance experience with significant construction exposure
- 5+ years in a Controller, Director of Finance, or equivalent leadership role
- Advanced proficiency in construction project management and ERP/accounting systems
- Strong command of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project controls
- Multi-project financial management experience
Preferred
- Affordable housing, LIHTC, or public financing experience
- History of implementing or scaling financial systems
Compensation range $180,000 - $210,000 + bonus!
