Chief Medical Officer, New Ventures
Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (M-F, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Pay Range: $450,000 - $550,000 per year
Signing Bonus: Yes
Paid Relocation: Yes
Travel: Up to 25% of the time.
This position is a confidential search for a Chief Medical Officer, New Ventures. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Emerging Markets President and Health Plan Leader to strategically guide the development and implementation of a new integrated care and coverage market. This leader will be responsible for ensuring the healthcare needs of members and patients are met through direct oversight of critical functions, including access, quality, service, and affordability. The Physician Leader will report to the CEO.
A key part of this role is to establish and implement governance structures that set the standard for high-quality care, optimize resource use, and foster a collaborative, trust-based culture among physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). This leader must ensure clinical practices are aligned with Ambulatory Strategy and industry best practices to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Physician Organization & Workforce Development
Lead the development of a new physician organization, including strategic recruitment of top-tier physicians and clinical talent.
Partner with human resources and departmental leaders to create a seamless onboarding process that integrates new clinicians into the organizational culture.
Promote a supportive work environment through professional development and mentorship programs to build a sustained, engaged, and committed physician and APP workforce.
Regularly assess workforce needs and implement strategies to address staffing and expertise gaps.
Strategic Partnerships
Lead the development and maintenance of key strategic partnerships.
Build and influence relationships that align with care delivery objectives and support new market initiatives.
Establish and maintain robust governance structures to ensure collaboration and accountability among partners.
Operations: Quality & Service Delivery
Ensure compliance with standards by establishing and monitoring quality metrics and performance indicators.
Lead initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and overall quality of care through evidence-based practices.
Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement best practices that enhance patient care and align with organizational goals.
Utilize patient feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions to improve service delivery across all care settings.
Promote the use of innovative care models and technology to enhance patient access and engagement.
Utilization & Resource Management
Oversee utilization management processes to optimize healthcare resources while maintaining high-quality care standards.
Analyze utilization data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential cost savings.
Collaborate with clinical teams to develop guidelines that promote appropriate resource utilization and reduce unnecessary procedures.
Ensure adequate infrastructure, including providers, staff, and information systems, to meet short- and medium-term growth targets.
Effective Delivery of Professional Services
Work with contract management teams to define member outcomes and performance metrics in professional services contracts.
Monitor service delivery to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
Implement performance improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of professional services.
Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including payers and community organizations, to improve service delivery and member outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum ten (10) years of related experience.
Minimum seven (7) years of direct leadership experience in the medical/healthcare field.
MD or DO degree.
Completion of an approved residency program.
