Structural Engineer – Transmission Powerline & Pole Projects

Location: Downtown Atlanta GA - Hybrid Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Position

We are Recruiting on Purpose an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the technical aspects of steel structure repair projects. This pivotal role involves overseeing design development, preparing submittals, obtaining customer approvals, and managing material procurement, ensuring all field activities align with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Manage design development for assigned steel structure repair projects, coordinating with in-house and subcontract engineers and drafters.

  • Structural Calculations: Develop and document structural calculations for steel structure repairs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.

  • Material Collaboration: Work closely with fabricators and vendors to utilize cost-effective materials and processes.

  • Business Development Support: Collaborate with Business Development and Product Managers to develop new products and pursue project opportunities.

  • Field Support: Support pilot projects by providing field assistance, writing reports, and compiling data for presentations.

  • Field Activity Management: Oversee field activities on assigned projects to ensure compliance with project and customer requirements.

  • Training: Provide training to field personnel on new repair methodologies and techniques.

  • Standards Development: Collaborate with the Manager of Engineering to develop drawing standards and specifications for steel structure repair projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited program with a structural emphasis.

  • Experience: Proven experience with finite element analysis (FEA) structural programs such as PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, RISA 3D, tnxTower, etc. is a BIG PLUS.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with customers and write technical documents.

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with power utility and communication utility structures.

  • Repair Methodologies: Familiarity with various repair methodologies and techniques.
