GENERAL SUMMARY:

Established company with a large part of the U.S. market share in what they manufacture at their plant located in southwest suburban Atlanta has an opportunity for a Maintenance Manager.  There are major company benefits, 401K with 100% match to 5%, as well as bonus potential.  Relocation assistance is also associated with this position.    

The Maintenance Manager is a critical role within our manufacturing plant and supports our production team to drive production while maintaining high standards for safety, quality and efficiency standards. Maintenance Manager will need to possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be proficient with maintenance management software and diagnostic tools. They should also have excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to work under pressure.

Oversees the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the organization’s facilities and equipment through planning, coordinating, and directing all maintenance activities to ensure machine reliability and minimize unexpected downtime. Manage installations and enforce an effective PM program to achieve world class waste and downtime goals. Maintain budget guidelines and environmental compliance. Develop maintenance procedures, manage capital projects and ensure all compliance guidelines are met. Define project scope of work, and ensure it is completed in its entirety before signing off.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")  General and other duties as assigned.

 

  • Lead all maintenance and repair activities, including scheduling tasks, responding to emergencies, and designing maintenance procedures. 
  • Ensuring the proper functioning of equipment and facilities and supervising their condition. 
  • Managing the maintenance budget, tracking expenses, and ensuring compliance with safety and legal regulations 
  • Serving as a liaison between the maintenance department and production departments 
  • Developing company policies and standard operating procedures 
  • Identifying ways to improve productivity and cut costs 
  • Promoting a culture of preventive maintenance, and training technicians to grow through continuing education
  • Train and supervise employees of the maintenance department
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors for execution of maintenance work
  • Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair
  • Implement workplace safety policies and standards
  • Provide technical support for controls, electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Monitors Maintenance KPIs and PM system reports and uses these reports to improve maintenance performance.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
  • Meet project completion timelines.
  • Verify compliance to governmental requirements (OSHA, EPA, FDA)
  • Requisition tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for ensuring maintenance personnel are trained on Lock-Out / Tag-Out, Confined Space, Hazard Material Handling and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance procedures are completed in line with company policies and standards.
  • Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free.
  • Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
  • Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure that spare parts, components, and tools needed for maintenance are always available by ordering, forecasting, and monitoring material inventories.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and optimize the organization s maintenance management plan in accordance with its goals to improve uptime and minimize costs.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate maintenance workers; monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Direct corrections (corrective action) of any maintenance or manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Compliance Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Implement and maintain TPM initiatives.
  • Manage all maintenance vendors and ensure all work is validated, negotiated and supports company initiatives
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives by working with production team.
  • Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education and Work History:

 

  1. Technical or BA degree or equivalent in a related field.
  2. Must have a minimum of 10 years of maintenance management experience in a heavy manufacturing facility or other process manufacturing environment, and strong communication, leadership, and team building skills.
  3. Strong PLC knowledge base is a plus.
  4. Operational background in electrical circuitry, and production equipment repair.
  5. Some stamping and/or casting knowledge is a must.
  6. Must be computer literate and have effectively built, developed and led teams.
  7. Mental and visual ability to identify various parts and read mechanical and electrical drawings, instructions, gauges, meters, etc.
