Our top-tier, international law firm is seeking a highly qualified Tax Associate to join its Tax Practice Group. They seek an attorney with strong academic credentials and experience advising on complex corporate, partnership, and international tax matters. The successful candidate will work on sophisticated transactions for Fortune 500 companies, investment funds, and high-net-worth individuals, providing strategic tax advice in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

The position is hybrid and a minimum of 3 days a week to the Mid-Town, Manhattan Office.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide tax structuring and advisory support for high-value corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and reorganizations.
  • Advise on tax aspects of private equity, hedge fund formations & operations.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, client alerts, and tax opinions.
  • Support clients in tax controversy matters (IRS audits, appeals, and litigation).
  • Collaborate with attorneys in corporate, finance, real estate, and private client groups on multidisciplinary matters.
  • Analyze and advise on international tax issues, including cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and FATCA/CRS compliance.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments at both domestic and global levels and communicate key changes to internal teams and clients.

Main Qualifications:

  • J.D. from a top-tier law school and admission to a U.S. state bar (New York)
  • LL.M. in Taxation is strongly preferred but not required
  • 2–4 years of experience at a major law firm or highly regarded tax boutique.
  • Significant experience in corporate, partnership, and international tax law.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with sophisticated clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Thrive under pressure in a high-performance, client-focused environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Tax aspects of fund formation and investment management.
  • M&A tax due diligence and post-transaction structuring.
  • Tax-exempt entities and not-for-profit structuring (a plus, but not required).
  • Exposure to tax controversy and litigation support.

Compensation and what to submit

  • Salary is between $250,000 - $360,000 – depending on experience, plus solid benefits
