Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-end, fully customized millwork and metalwork, including retail fixtures, corporate office interiors, museum installations, and branded environments. They are seeking a Senior Project Manager, on-site in Irvine, CA to lead complex projects from planning through installation and closeout.
This role will be responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams including design, engineering, fabrication, logistics, and installation to ensure each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. The Senior Project Manager will also mentor other project managers and contribute to scaling internal processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead assigned projects from kickoff to final delivery, including setting project plans, timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks
Organize and run kickoff and turnover meetings to align on scope, deliverables, risks, and responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering on shop drawings, value engineering, and feasibility reviews
Coordinate with purchasing to source materials and services, while supporting make-vs-buy decisions
Direct internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget targets
Build and manage detailed project schedules; track progress and implement changes as necessary
Communicate status updates with internal and external stakeholders using clear reports and visuals
Identify and mitigate risks; escalate issues with actionable recommendations
Verify materials, finishes, and dimensions before production and shipment
Maintain organized project records in ERP and other project tracking systems
Plan and oversee site installation work, coordinating labor and third-party services
Coach junior project managers and project coordinators to foster a culture of safety and executional excellence
Travel approximately 25% of the time to client sites, production facilities, or installations
Requirements:
5+ years of project management experience in custom millwork, or related fabrication environments
Proven success managing one-off or specialty builds from start to finish
Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, finishes, and cost estimation principles
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project scheduling software; experience with ERP/project systems is a plus
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage vendors and subcontractors
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
