Emphasis is placed on systems involving vacuum science, fluid dynamics, thermal management, and materials engineering. The role includes participation in new product development, system modeling, component fabrication, and technical documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops mechanical designs for components and subsystems operating in vacuum and controlled-environment conditions.
  • Performs engineering analysis including fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and structural evaluations.
  • Prepares and maintains engineering documentation such as 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, test plans, and assembly instructions.
  • Supports prototype fabrication, system assembly, and performance testing activities.
  • Utilizes computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools for simulation and optimization of designs.
  • Coordinates with electrical, manufacturing, and R&D teams to ensure mechanical design compatibility with system requirements.
  • Reviews product requirements and translates them into engineering specifications.
  • Participates in design reviews, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience in mechanical design, with a focus on fluid dynamics, vacuum systems, or thermal analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of vacuum technology, including pumps, seals, and chamber design principles.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor fabrication processes, plasma systems, or high-vacuum materials processing.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
