A well-established Heavy Civil Contractor is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join its growing Heavy Civil Roadway Division. The ideal candidate will support project teams to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective execution of infrastructure projects, maintaining alignment with safety, schedule, and budget goals.
\n\nThe Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting Project Managers and Superintendents throughout all phases of construction. This position involves managing documentation, maintaining accurate schedules, assisting with estimating and change orders, and ensuring effective coordination between field operations and project administration.
\n\nMaintain and update project schedules in coordination with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
\nDevelop detailed Primavera (P6) project schedules and corresponding cash flow reports.
\nAttend and document pre-construction, planning, and weekly coordination meetings, distributing meeting minutes and updates to project teams.
\nAssist with job cost tracking, investigating and correcting discrepancies.
\nPrepare and process change orders, back charges, and force account documentation.
\nParticipate in project closeout activities, including quantity take-offs, as-built drawings, and cost history input.
\nSupport progress billing and monthly project estimates.
\nAttend agency meetings and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders.
\nConduct regular site visits to monitor field progress and support operations.
\nCollaborate with estimating and field teams to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
\n3+ years of related experience in heavy civil roadway construction.
\nProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Primavera (SureTrak or P6) scheduling software.
\nStrong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
\nAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adjust to changing priorities.
\nKnowledge of construction methods, equipment, and government regulations.
\nWorks accurately and meticulously under deadlines.
\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
\nValid Driver’s License required.
\nWater/Wastewater project experience highly preferred.
\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
\nEquivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
