Financial analyst plays a critical role in an organization, providing both financial and operational insight to help determine the long-term goals of the company. Financial analysts 3-5+ years of experience are expected to be proficient in financial analysis, forecasting and budgeting techniques as well as have strong communication skills and analytical thinking abilities.
Job description dutiesThe primary responsibilities of a financial analyst include analyzing past data, researching current trends, preparing reports and developing strategic plans to assist senior management with decision-making processes. Financial analysts will look at costs associated with projects, performance against a budget, evaluate investments and analyze markets for opportunities or risks. They will also prepare presentations for internal stakeholders on topics such as cash flow management, liquidity forecasting or portfolio optimization strategies.
In addition to providing data analysis, financial analysts 3-5+ years of experience are also responsible for monitoring compliance with financial regulations and providing feedback when needed. Financial analysts must be able to interpret complex data, identify sources of error or risk and recommend solutions. They may also need to provide training to other members of the organization in order to ensure that all staff have a full understanding of the company’s financial strategies.
