General Overview

As the inaugural HR hire, you are not just filling a position but embarking on a mission. Your role is both strategic and hands-on, offering a unique opportunity to rebuild and influence the workplace culture deeply. You will lay the foundation for HR practices that foster a community of service, leading by example and inspiring others to follow.

The Human Resource (HR) Generalist is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of the HR function for the organization. They will lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the routine policies and activities of the HR department including talent acquisition, management, and development; administering compensation and benefits programs; employee relations; ensuring legal compliance; and implementation of the organization’s mission and vision with respect to talent strategy. This position reports to the President & CEO and currently has no direct reports.

Essential Duties

  •       Talent Acquisition & Management: Lead with a strategic and compassionate approach, identifying and nurturing the talents needed to advance our mission. There will be a heavy focus on recruiting initially due to current organizational needs.
  •       Employee Relations: Act as a beacon of our values, enhancing the organizational culture through your actions and policies.
  •       Compensation & Benefits: Architect and implement supportive programs that reflect our commitment to staff and their crucial role in our mission.
  •       Compliance & Reporting: Safeguard our organization by maintain high level of compliance detail, aligning our operations with our moral and legal obligations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of HR experience, with a strong preference for SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and HRIS platforms.
  • A passionate commitment to service and the greater good, with the readiness to inspire, lead, and mentor.
  • A strategic thinker with the capability to execute hands-on HR functions autonomously.
  • Proven experience in HR with a knack for building or enhancing a positive workplace culture.
  •  Strong capabilities to demonstrate empathy to a variety of complex employee needs.
  •  Demonstrates ability to be an independent thinker and self-starter.
