Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive reports on supplier quality, actively monitoring Defective Parts Per Million (DPPM) rates and identifying systemic quality risks. Collaborate with suppliers to implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions to reduce defect rates.
Supplier Qualification & Audit: Conduct thorough assessments of potential vendors' Quality Management Systems, manufacturing processes, and control plans. Lead and execute supplier quality control audits (e.g., AS9100/ISO 9001 checks) to ensure full compliance with organizational policies and key industry quality certifications (ISO, NADCAP).
Process Improvement & Development: Drive substantial supplier performance improvements through the implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process enhancements (e.g., FMEA, PPAP), and the development of robust quality assurance plans for new and existing components.
Escalation & Resolution: Lead and manage the resolution of critical non-conformance issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D reports), ensuring timely disposition of material and effective closure of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
The ideal candidate will possess an Extensive Experience level in the following core areas:
Product Quality Assurance: Deep knowledge of quality assurance tools, techniques (e.g., geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)), and methodologies for ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
Supplier Management - Manufacturing: Proven ability to manage the quality aspects of business relationships with material or component suppliers, including monitoring performance against quality metrics and enforcing controls.
Process Improvement: Strong track record in applying continuous improvement methodologies to manufacturing processes to enhance quality, reduce variation, and limit performance.
Problem Solving: Demonstrated expertise in leading complex quality failure investigations and devising successful, data-driven resolution strategies.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing quality standards, with the ability to ensure supply base adherence to organizational and regulatory quality requirements.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or Supply Chain degree preferred).
Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Supplier Quality Engineer or related quality assurance role.
Preferred Background: Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. A Quality Engineering background (e.g., ASQ certification) is a significant plus.
Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites for audits and process reviews.
