Summary
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for driving technology innovation, strategy, and product development to support business growth. This role focuses on external customer acquisition and cross-sell opportunities, product delivery, and ensuring platforms are seamless and well-integrated to deliver an optimal customer experience. The CTO also oversees the organization’s technology stack and ensures competitiveness by evaluating technologies across industries and incorporating new platforms where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the mission and vision for the IT function to foster a business-focused culture and ensure the organization remains a fast follower of modern technology.

• Lead development of the IT strategy and roadmap and ensure alignment with organizational strategic planning.

• Partner with executive leadership and business units to define and execute digital business strategy.

• Stay current on emerging technologies; communicate opportunities that could enhance product offerings.

• Lead technology governance and steering activities to discuss emerging technologies, policy direction, and innovation opportunities; provide technical leadership, set standards, and guide architectural decisions.

• Manage engineering and development teams focused on improving products, integrations, and innovation.

• Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, RPA) and develop strategies for integration into products, processes, and platforms.

• Maintain oversight of technology platforms, products, and integrations.

• Align product architecture with business priorities.

• Serve as primary contact for key technology vendor relationships.

• Provide oversight for the Center of Excellence (COE) supporting RPA development.

• Use technology to enhance product offerings and customer experience.

• Demonstrate creativity and forward-thinking as a technology leader.

• Ability to travel up to 20–25%, with additional travel as needed for strategic initiatives or special projects.

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies.

• Promote the company mission, vision, and values.

• Complete ongoing development and compliance training as required.

• Worksite located in Kansas City; in-office attendance required during standard business hours.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of functionality, architecture, and processing across new and emerging technologies, systems, and platforms relevant to enterprise business strategies.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and validate the quality of solutions delivered internally or by vendors.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• High proficiency in common office technologies and tools.

• Proven ability to build high-performance teams, deliver strong productivity, and foster positive team morale.

• Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities.

Education & Experience

• Minimum 10 years of IT management experience within financial services or similarly regulated environments.

• 7–10 years of experience supporting banking or financial technology required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Business Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Demonstrated experience leading development teams.

• Experience with RPA development (UiPath preferred).

• Supervisory and management experience required.

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a professional, office-based environment. The role may require:

• Occasional exertion up to 35 pounds.

• Significant time spent sitting for meetings and computer work, with frequent standing and walking across work locations.

• Occasional travel to data centers, vendor sites, or additional office locations.

• Use of standard office equipment, including computers and telephones.

• Ability to read written materials and computer screens, communicate clearly, and listen effectively.
