Senior Boiler Technician (Los Angeles Metro)

We’re seeking a Senior Boiler Technician in Los Angeles Metro to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of high-pressure steam boiler systems.

  • Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations, preventing accidents and downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor high-pressure steam boilers and related equipment (pumps, burners, valves, controls) to ensure stable, efficient performance.

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on boilers, burners, pumps, and controls to ensure safe, reliable operation.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues in boiler systems and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime.

  • Adjust and calibrate boiler controls and safety devices to maintain proper pressure, temperature, and combustion efficiency.

  • Maintain logs and records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety checks.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and codes, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols and OSHA regulations.

  • Oversee boiler water treatment to prevent corrosion and extend equipment life.

  • Coordinate with inspectors and contractors for required boiler certifications, inspections, and major repairs.

Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining high-pressure steam boilers (Cleaver-Brooks, Miura, Raypak, Babcock & Wilcox or similar).

  • City of Los Angeles Unlimited Steam Engineer’s License (required for high-pressure boiler operation).

  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems, combustion, and safety standards (ASME boiler codes, Lockout/Tagout, OSHA).

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • EPA 608 certification (refrigerant handling).

  • OSHA 30-hour safety training certification.

  • Vocational/technical training or an associate degree in HVAC, mechanical technology, or a related field.

  • Experience with modern boiler control systems or building automation systems (BMS).

Compensation & Logistics

Competitive salary depending on experience; benefits include health insurance, paid time off, holidays, etc. This full-time role is based in the Los Angeles Metro area and may require occasional travel within the region.
