Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Refrigeration Engineer to oversee the design and development of innovative refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will drive projects from initial concept through to prototype and manufacturing stages, providing expert troubleshooting and solutions for engineering challenges. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a passion for innovation, and the ability to mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop refrigeration systems, utilizing advanced drafting software to create detailed drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Perform system calculations to determine load requirements and design layouts, optimizing piping sizes and system capacities.
  • Revise and create technical literature, specification sheets, and product manuals to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Evaluate vendor-supplied components in collaboration with the purchasing team to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor market trends and incorporate feedback to enhance product design and functionality.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and product enhancement, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Mentor and guide team members in mechanical and refrigeration design techniques.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles applicable to refrigeration.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards from entities such as UL, DOE, EPA, NSF, and FDA.
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication, especially regarding technical and regulatory topics.
  • Knowledge of emerging refrigerants like R290 and CO2, with A2L refrigerant knowledge being advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage complex projects effectively.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Research and implement new technologies in energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of energy regulations and safety standards, developing and documenting testing procedures as necessary.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training for technical and manufacturing teams.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement processes through the company's Engineering Change Notification (ECN) system.
  • Provide support for special manufacturing projects and engage with field representatives and consultants as required.
  • Travel to various manufacturing sites may be necessary, with travel estimated at less than 10%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience with a strong focus on refrigeration systems.
  • At least 7 years of industry experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks, is preferred.
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience is beneficial.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
