Accounting and Risk Analyst – Newport Beach, CA

Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 6:30AM – 3:30PM (Pacific Time)

Pay: $85,000 - $100,000 based on experience, plus annual bonus opportunities.

ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

Seeking an experienced accountant for a Finance Associate – Accounting and Risk Analyst role. In this position, you will perform a variety of general accounting duties. Additional responsibilities include financial analysis, credit risk monitoring, and supporting various compliance and operational projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation with exposure to financial credit review and risk management practices within a broker-dealer, investment banking, real estate, or financial services environment.

Accounting Responsibilities:

·       Reconcile sub-ledgers to general ledger account balances.

·       Prepare financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

·       Assist with the preparation of regulatory filings.

·       Support month-end and year-end close processes.

·       Reconcile clearing broker transaction activity and account balances.

·       Maintain and reconcile fixed asset and facility lease schedules.

·       Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and review of risk areas.

·       Assist with budget preparation and prepare monthly budget variance analyses.

Credit Management Responsibilities:

·       Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.

·       Monitor and review customer credit accounts regularly to identify potential risks or recommend credit limit adjustments.

·       Identify and analyze trends and patterns related to credit risk and provide recommendations for mitigating potential risks.

·       Focus on assessing, monitoring, and reviewing credit activities to support the firm's financial stability.

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

·       2+ years of experience in general accounting and financial analysis roles.

·       Experience within a broker-dealer, investment banking, real estate, or financial services industry.

·       Strong analytical skills with familiarity in financial credit review and risk management.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
