We are recruiting on purpose an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to help launch and grow our new Dallas office. This is a unique opportunity for a technically skilled and entrepreneurial engineer to shape both the engineering output and the business development strategy of a new market presence. You’ll balance hands-on structural design with client relationship building, proposal development, and market expansion—all within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. This is an ideal role for someone ready to step into a leadership position while still engaging deeply with the technical aspects of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Client Engagement:

  • Prepare technical proposals, fee estimates, and qualifications packages.

  • Collaborate with marketing and sector leaders to tailor materials for the Dallas market.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities; contribute to expanding the local client base.

  • Strengthen relationships with architects, contractors, developers, and other key stakeholders.

  • Represent Bennett & Pless at client meetings, industry events, and presentations to promote services and capabilities.

Structural Engineering & Project Delivery:

  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and project manager for local structural projects.

  • Oversee and review design calculations, construction documents, BIM coordination, and project specifications.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project deliverables meet client expectations and internal quality standards.

  • Support junior engineers and drafters on design execution and professional development.

  • Lead design for smaller projects as needed, including preparation of drawings, submittals, and schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.

  • Active PE license required; SE license is a plus.

  • Minimum 8 years of structural design experience in the AEC industry.

  • At least 3 years of business development or client-facing experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with structural software such as RAM, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, Microsoft Office, and ideally ETABS or Tekla Structural Designer.

  • Working knowledge of Revit is preferred.

  • Proven record of successful project execution and client satisfaction.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and negotiation.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Confident, proactive, and collaborative with a passion for growth.

  • Strategic thinker with financial and business acumen.

  • Well-established professional network within the Dallas AEC market is strongly preferred.
