CYBER SECURITY SYSTEMS ENGINEER – ARLINGTON, VA

GovStaff is seeking a multitalented Cyber Systems Engineer to design, develop, and maintain Information Assurance systems solutions within the Risk Management Framework (RMF) life cycle. Prior Assessment & Authorization (A&A) experience is required. The position is onsite in Arlington, VA. No hybrid or remote work options and a minimum Top Secret Clearance is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ·        Systems development, administration, and maintenance of custom cyber security solutions
  •         Planning, scheduling, and executing Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities
  •         Multi-platform security compliance & vulnerability scanning and remediation
  •         Execution of Security Test & Evaluation (ST&E) activities for verification of security requirements
  •         Applying knowledge of current IA policies to the architecture and design of secure solutions to customer needs and requirements
  •         Performing hands-on technical implementation of security solutions comprised of COTS, GOTS and custom-developed software security solutions
  •         Developing trade studies, analyses, reports, and briefings as required

 

REQUIRED:

 

  •         Active DOD Top Secret Security Clearance
  •         Six years of demonstrated experience in cyber security
  •         BS Degree in a related technical or engineering field
  •         Experience with Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities, including the development of System Security Plans (SSP), applying STIG Checklists and other supporting documentation (SP800-57, ICD503 preferred)
  •         Experience using Tenable Nessus/Security Center/ ACAS
  •         Linux and Windows System Administration
  •         Operational experience with security guidelines (e.g. NIST, ICD 503) 
  •         COTS and/or GOTS patch management/deployment experience
  •         Experience with US Government and Commercial cyber security engineering projects
  •         Strong understanding of security design and architecture with the ability to develop solutions to complex compliance and security problems
  •         Experience with security compliance and vulnerability assessment scanning
  •     Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal oversight in a dynamic environment
  •         Work collaboratively in a team environment across traditional engineering disciplines
  •         Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills
  •         Security Certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01 IAT-II or higher (e.g. Security+ CE, SSCP, etc.; CISSP is preferable)

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS

  •         Experience as a Systems Security Validator
  •         Experience in systems engineering, life-cycle management, & engineering change processes
  •         Network component administration
  •         VMware administration
  •         Operating system hardening
  •         Previous experience in Verification, Validation and Accreditation
