Position:  Quality Technician II

 

Job Description:

 

MDS Staffing is looking for a Quality Technician II for our client that produces metal stampings and fabrications.  Position will include performing quality inspections on materials that are received, in-process, and finished per customer, company, and regulatory requirements.  This position will assist with design, development and implementation of inspection methods, plans, and testing equipment. Will assist production personnel, use inspection equipment, perform testing, interpret blueprints, standards, written instructions, create reports and assist the Quality Manager in all areas of production and customer requirements. 

 

Required Skills:

 

•             Ability to verify calibration prior to use and to use hand measurement tools as defined per inspection control plans for effective judgement of product against blueprint requirements.

 

•             Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, specifications, tolerances, print notes, and understand blueprints designed using GD&T and ASME implications.

 

•             Ability to complete with accuracy First Piece (First Article-Production), In Process and Last Piece (Last Article-Production) inspections.

 

•             Ability to perform basic programming of the Comparator and understand 2D and 3D measurement implications.

 

•             Ability to create, understand basic formulas and basic tables in the use of Word and Excel. Able to identify and fix corrupt formulas within Microsoft Excel and Word documents. Basic skill in Outlook.

 

•             Understand basic SPC, Capability Studies, Sampling Plans and Gage R&R studies. Also, analyze the data to ensure adjustments, accuracies and process capability are adequate.

 

•             Ability to complete with accuracy First-Article-Customer, provide evidence of methods used when questioned internally or externally, to come to a mutual agreement of methods and accuracy, even if parts are not within tolerances of the blueprint.

 

•             Ability to put together a PPAP package with the guidance and assistance of the Quality Manager.

 

•             Moderate proficiency in understanding GD&T symbols and implications, by example but not limited to true position to datums, datum structure, profile of a surface, and other in depth measurement implications.

 

•             Able to use and understand in depth measurement equipment such as a Material Hardness Tester, Profilometer and basic CMM setup.

 

•             Able to perform Root Cause analysis on nonconforming (NC) product from any source, with the assistance of the Quality Manager.

 

•             Interact with all departments with leadership and integrity while exemplifying professionalism.

·         Knowledge on performing internal process audits.

 

·         Other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manger.

Preferred Skills, but not required:

 

·         3-5 years QC Tech experience with metal parts in a manufacturing environment. 

 

·         Previous experience and understanding of ISO 9001: 2015 compliance.

 

·         CQT Certification
