UI/UX Developer

Our client has an immediate need for a highly driven and energetic UI/UX Developer to join their high-performing IT team. This is a 6-month contract to permanent assignment and the role is 100% remote.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate Degree preferred.  Experience can substitute for education.
  • 3+ years of applicable web/HTML experience. 
  • Must have strong knowledge and understanding of basic front-end web development in compliance with Section 508 standards, with emphasis on HTML, CSS, and Adobe Acrobat PDF creation and accessibility remediation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to interact effectively with client and team members. 
  • JavaScript, jQuery, Angular, open source Web content management systems, .Net
  • Agile Scrum and/or Kanban capacity is desirable.
  • Individual must be a U.S. citizen and be willing to undergo a background investigation

 

Required skills:

  • Extensive experience working in Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficient in creating 508 conformant  documents and PDFs, including fillable forms
  • Knowledge of current accessibility best practices and the ability to advise others on these practices
  • Extensive knowledge of screen readers, accessibility tools, and other assistive technology
  • Ability to test images, webpages, PDFs, interactive learning experiences, Microsoft documents, and applications for 508 -conformance
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • HTML/CSS coding experience

 

Desired skills:

  • DHS Trusted Tester Certification (v5) (extremely desirable)
  • Adobe Photoshop/Graphics experience
  • Familiarity with Accessible Name & Description Inspector (ANDI)
  • Familiarity with Jira
  • Prior government experience helpful

 

What You’ll Do:  

  • Create and organize web content of various types (HTML, PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents) for  large, high-traffic government websites to ensure compliance with Section 508 standards. Assessment and validation of created web content to determine 508 conformance. 
  • Performs day-to-day maintenance and operation of the customer Web sites to ensure all web content is compliant with agency policies, standards and accessibility guidelines. 
  • Work closely with the web development team as well as Product Owners to determine user needs. 
  • The position will bring new ideas and innovations to the group and work to expand web policy standards and best practices.
