Note: This position requires employees to be on-site five days a week at either the Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC office.

Note: The qualified candidate for this position must have at least 5 years of transportation hydraulic design experience, preferably with NCDOT projects.

Job Description

  • Lead and support hydrology and hydraulic analysis for roadway and transportation projects
  • Design stormwater management systems, ponds, and conveyance systems
  • Perform erosion control and outfall analysis to ensure compliance with environmental standards
  • Contribute to all aspects of roadway drainage design including culverts, bridges, ditches, BMPs, and watershed studies
  • Conduct site visits and fieldwork to confirm existing conditions
  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic improvements for roadway and drainage projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, sub-consultants, and permitting agencies
  • Extract and analyze data from MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage, HEC-RAS, and related tools
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets when assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of hydraulic design experience, ideally with NCDOT projects
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage, and HEC-RAS
  • Working knowledge of NCDOT Guidelines for Drainage Studies and Hydraulic Design and FHWA Hydraulic Design Manual
  • Soil erosion and sediment control design experience
  • Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and SUDA is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (sponsorship not available)
