SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position leads and provides strategic and operational direction to the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs for our client. The EHS Manager is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of all EHS policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with all local, state, federal, and client requirements to ensure regulatory compliance. The position is accountable for the achievement of site and business metrics related to established EHS goals in conjunction with the site Leadership Team and associates.
REPORTING TO: Director of Operations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads the development and implementation of long-term strategic, operational, short-term tactical EHS systems and programs in support of BBS, risk assessment/hazard reduction, early intervention, case management, and environmental sustainability.
- Provides guidance to the Denver Leadership Team regarding corporate & local EHS strategic objectives and regulatory compliance concerns.
- Monitors performance/impact of the plant safety systems and programs. Recommends courses of action to improve established systems and programs. Serves as the catalyst leading the plant’s overall safety performance.
- Compiles and distributes safety and health related information to be used as tools for the reduction and/or elimination of workplace accidents.
- Works directly with managers/supervisors and the workforce to identify hazards and eliminate unsafe conditions.
- Provides leadership, training, and strategic guidance for associate safety teams, people managers/supervisors, on all EHS systems and programs across the site.
- Directs and coordinates job hazard analysis, hazard assessment, ergonomic assessments, hearing conservation, industrial hygiene sampling, fire protection, LOTO, corporate insurance assessments, ISO 14001 audits, and environmental reporting. Coordinates additional EHS programs as required.
- Performs safety validations of all new and/or modified equipment and/or processes. Evaluates and identifies areas of improvement from a safety and health perspective to ensure associate safety. Provides applicable training to key qualified associates/supervisors to assist in conducting safety validations.
- Identifies and manages PPE needs for the site, as well as the effectiveness and functionality of required PPE.
- Completes site reporting consistent with EPA, OSHA, and client corporate requirements.
- Establishes, maintains, and communicates EHS metrics to evaluate current programs and analyze opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as the plant liaison to the corporate EHS office for all environmental, health, and safety issues.
- Site administrator for the Gensuite SMS.
- Manages the resolution of identified EHS audit findings and incident investigations.
- Reviews and approve/reject work instruction/standardized work creation and updates for safety.
- Prepares for and participate in the shop floor daily management meetings, gemba walks,
- and weekly safety talks.
- Investigates reports of unsafe practices or conditions and use structured problem solving to contain, then countermeasure the problem.
- Knows all hazardous material in the facility, as well as the appropriate safe handling, response, and storage procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Excellent computer and communication skills, including high proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Knowledge and demonstrated competency in use of a Safety Management System (Gensuite experience is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in EH&S, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Teaching, or related field.
- 3 years of related professional work experience.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Safety improvements.
- CSP, CRAME, CEM are a plus.
- Change Management and/or Lean certifications are a plus.
