Director of Production and Sourcing

The Director of Production and Sourcing in Ladies apparel is responsible for overseeing the entire production process and managing the sourcing of raw materials, fabrics, and finished goods. This senior leadership role ensures that products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and with the highest quality standards. The director works closely with design, merchandising, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery, adherence to budgets, and compliance with industry regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Management:
    1. Oversee the end-to-end garment production process for all Ladies outerwear, sportwear and sportswear, including planning, scheduling, and monitoring production timelines.
    2. Ensure all production activities align with the company’s quality standards, cost targets, and customer specifications.
    3. Coordinate with manufacturing units (in-house or third-party) to ensure the production schedule is met.
    4. Troubleshoot and resolve any production issues or bottlenecks that may arise, ensuring minimal delays and quality defects.
  2. Sourcing & Supply Chain Management:
    1. Develop and implement strategies for sourcing fabrics, trims, and finished goods.
    2. Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and lead times with suppliers and vendors to optimize costs and production efficiency.
    3. Manage and optimize the supply chain to meet production demands and customer requirements.
    4. Evaluate and monitor supplier performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, ethical practices, and sustainability initiatives.
  3. Cost Control & Budgeting:
    1. Develop and manage budgets for production and sourcing, ensuring adherence to financial goals and targets.
    2. Monitor and report on cost fluctuations and identify cost-saving opportunities across production and sourcing operations.
    3. Implement cost-effective sourcing strategies to ensure profitability without compromising on quality.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    1. Work closely with quality control teams to ensure all garments meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements.
    2. Conduct regular audits of factories and suppliers to ensure compliance with quality assurance processes.
    3. Address and resolve any quality issues in products, materials, or production processes.
  5. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    1. Lead and manage a team of production managers and tech design team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
    2. Collaborate with the design, merchandising, and logistics teams to ensure that the product development cycle is on track and aligned with market demands.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, , or a related field
  2. At least 10+ years of experience in the garment industry, with a focus on production and sourcing.
  3. In-depth knowledge of garment manufacturing processes, sourcing strategies, and supply chain management.
  4. Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  5. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  6. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  7. Compliance knowledge of club stores.
  8. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and solve complex problems.

Work Environment: This role typically involves working in the office-5 days a week, there would be possible travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and trade shows. The director must be flexible to respond to production or sourcing issues as they arise, which may require working outside of regular business hours.
