Primary Responsibility:

Perform service work in-house and at customer sites under the required instruction/supervision according to the quality procedures and/or customer specifications work order.

Field Service Techs will travel to customer job sites.  When they are traveling, they are working during plant downtimes which are usually nights and weekends.  When they are not traveling, they are expected to work on-site in Massillon.

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Perform in one or more of the following areas:
    • Field Testing
    • Mechanical Maintenance of AC Motors
    • Electrical Maintenance of DC Motors
    • Overhead Crane Inspections and Maintenance
    • Control Troubleshooting and Installation
    • AC/DC Drives
    • Predictive Maintenance (Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Oil Analysis)
    • Breaker Service and Repair
    • Mechanical Repair (Turbine, Gearbox, Pump)
    • Compressor Service and Repair
  • Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical applications.
  • Work overtime and weekends, when necessary, to meet the demand of the customer and/or the company workload.
  • Travel to complete work at customer site, as required.
  • Train in additional areas in which not yet fully qualified under the instruction of a Manager or Supervisor.
  • Provide guidance to new shop-service technicians that are unfamiliar with the work process.
  • Ensure that all tasks are performed utilizing all necessary procedures, work instructions, safety procedures and equipment.
  • Keep work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when representing the company during phone, or personal contact with customers, outside vendors, and/or service providers, etc.
  • Advocate and follow all quality, safety and environmental procedures and report all noncompliance.
  • Provide support for any special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager. These special projects, at the determination of management, may or may not become part of your primary responsibilities.
  • Promote continuous improvement (i.e.: employee suggestions, procedural enhancement, etc.).

Measures of Success:

  • Production efficiencies; i.e. low rework, warranty costs work completed at/or under estimated hours.
  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Meeting or exceeding customer demand/delivery.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have a high school diploma. 
  • One-year shop or related job/vocational experience.
  • This position requires an individual experienced at repairing and/or servicing electrical and/or mechanical apparatus.
  • To be considered, a candidate must possess a working knowledge of at least one of the work areas listed above (See Key Duties/Accountability). 
  • Experience with computer applications and SAGE are desirable.
  • The position demands an individual who is hard working, detail oriented, thorough and able to work overtime and weekends, as needed, to meet company and customer demands.
  • Team skills are also desirable, as some development and ongoing projects involve teams of individuals from different backgrounds within the organization.

Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen, and when applicable if duties involve operating motor vehicle must be able to pass motor vehicle record check.
