GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Position will include the development and execution of CPE test plans. These CPE include (cable modems, cable gateways, wifi routers, wifi extenders, android/linux STBs). The candidate will also help evaluate new software technologies as they pertain to the deployment and support of products in the cable industry (High Speed Data, Wifi, IP Video and VOIP). Additional responsibilities include the setup and maintenance of the test facility which includes cabling infrastructure and equipment, PCs, Servers, IP Network Equipment (routers/switches).SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for validating Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and back-end systems for CPE. Candidate is responsible for Lab Defect Validation and Field DOCSIS Defect Validation.
- CPE DOCSIS Lab setups, Legacy Modem DOCSIS Validations, CPE device Low Split/ High Split testing on new CMTS/RPD/RMD Releases
- CPE DOCSIS provisioning/activation flow validation, Proof of concept of DOCSIS New features, Lab and infrastructure support of iCCAP and Remote-PHY technology.
- Work closely with other QA, software and product engineers to create, maintain and evolve test plans and automation to drive DOCSIS testing.
- Actively participate in issue triage / troubleshooting
- Clearly document processes used
- Ensure effective communications with peers and management
- Enforce lab guidelines for users to follow in order to maintain the lab and equipment in a good working condition.
- Setup and Maintain Networking equipment as outlined by senior department members on VoIP technologies.
- Help develop and implement new technologies such as IP Video, Voice over IP and other High Speed Data services within the lab environment.
- Keep all systems in a good working order while maintaining all system related firmware up-to-date.
- Purchase of additional lab equipment as required and approved by management.
- Keep in close contact with software and Hardware vendors to maintain the latest software Hardware, Software and apps for interoperability testing.
- Light Project management duties as it pertains to the testing/deployment/support of emerging technologies.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or other technology fields required.
- 5-7 years' experience in Network / IP Administration, IP CPE testing methodology or other related technical fields.
- Familiar with technologies that apply to the Cable Service industry (Docsis 3.X, DSG, Wifi (AC/AX), PCMM, Community Wifi, CBRS, SIP).
- Experience with Wifi testing/deployment (802.11x technology).
- Experience maintaining IP networks and Project Management preferred.
- Experience with test and automation software (Spirent, IXIA, Qualisys, Byteblower or other traffic generation software).
- Working knowledge on Cisco cBR8. Casa C100G, Commscope E6000;RPD; EPON OLT; as well as associated CPE products.
- Experience with cable industry systems including DAC Cable Headends, Video on Demand Systems, IP Video or Telecommunications infrastructure a plus.
- Experience working with TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Ethernet, DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ARP, NAT, Bridging, Switching
- Must be able to work independently.
- Excellent Debugging skills & experience troubleshooting.
