Construction Manager – Pharmaceutical Plants

Location: Boulder, COSchedule: Full-time, onsite | Anticipated hours: 6:30am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday (may vary based on construction activities)

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate all field construction activities for the Pharmaceutical manufacturing projects. This role is hands-on, requiring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Construction Manager will serve as the primary point of coordination for contractors, operations, and engineering teams to ensure the safe, timely, and successful execution of construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field construction efforts to drive safe and efficient progress.

  • Attend and facilitate morning construction stand-up meetings (7:00am, M–F).

  • Develop and communicate daily activity outlines for multiple trades across plant areas.

  • Maintain awareness of non-project site activities that could impact construction.

  • Ensure contractor compliance with site safety standards and the Construction Safety Plan.

  • Participate in daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) with contract trades.

  • Assist trades in obtaining Safe Work Permits, including walking scopes with operations.

  • Interpret and communicate Scope of Work documents (P&IDs, 3D Models, Isometrics, engineering documents) to field trades.

  • Provide constructability feedback to designers during equipment and plant design phases.

  • Identify and resolve installation issues during construction by coordinating with the design team.

  • Work with Operations representatives on line breaks, plant prep activities, and start-up readiness.

  • Apply knowledge of LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) and CHEP procedures.

  • Perform walkdowns of complex piping systems to verify readiness and installation quality.

  • Be present and engaged on the plant floor for large portions of each day.

  • Collaborate with trades and Operations to sequence and prioritize construction work.

  • Walk scopes to assess progress and report advancement to the project scheduler.

  • Participate in investigations of any construction-related safety or quality incidents.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in field construction management, preferably in industrial or process plant settings.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, and 3D models.

  • Solid understanding of safety protocols, including LOTO and permit systems.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for coordinating across trades, operations, and engineering.

  • Ability to remain highly engaged in active plant environments.
