The Position:

This is a newly created role – the person who is now the Global Director of Operations Planning is the one who is handling these responsibilities, but now with the additional responsibilities he has, he needs to hand these off to someone else. Initially this role will oversee Transportation and Logistics for North America (about 35 facilities). Once they have their feet, this role will become more of a global position – so there is natural progression built into it. This person will supervise a team of 4-5 managers (among them an international logistics manager, an asset manager and a domestic freight manager), who have their own direct reports, a team of about 20-25 people total. This company is currently in the beginning stages of a digitalization transformation and ERP implementation so this person will be very involved in that – they are also looking for strategic guidance on what the best course of action is related to transportation vendors and transportation strategy, particularly with regard to how they utilize their own capability versus how they use 3PL companies. Travel will be approximately 20% of the time.

Education & Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in business or related fields
  • Should have 5+ years in a management or supervisor role and overall at least 8-10 years of transport experience in manufacturing. The specific manufacturing background doesn’t matter – but have an expert-level understanding of transportation management is essential
  • Need to posses excellent interpersonal communication skills – this role regularly interfaces with executive leadership as well as folks at the manufacturing sites
