Controller (Healthcare Focus)
CMM Talent Partners is recruiting an experienced Controller for a top healthcare client in Washington, DC on a direct hire basis.
Controller Overview
The accomplished Controller with a focus on healthcare to lead our financial operations in Washington, DC. This pivotal role involves ensuring precise financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and the establishment of robust internal controls. You will be instrumental in guiding a dynamic finance team, requiring strategic insight and meticulous attention to detail. This is a direct hire opportunity.
Controller Key Responsibilities
Manage daily healthcare accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, medical billing, and fixed asset management.
Supervise and nurture a team of three direct reports, fostering professional development.
Produce and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements adhering to GAAP and healthcare industry standards.
Develop and enforce internal controls and healthcare-specific accounting policies to protect assets and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning with a focus on cost containment and revenue optimization.
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations.
Provide strategic leadership, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management for the finance and accounting team.
Monitor cash flow and revenue trends to support the long-term financial strategy and risk management.
Partner with clinical, operational, and executive leadership to synchronize financial goals with healthcare delivery and growth objectives.
Stay informed of changes in healthcare finance regulations and industry best practices.
Controller Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role within healthcare.
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Proficiency with accounting software, such as QuickBooks or NetSuite.
Advanced skills in Excel and strong analytical abilities.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
High integrity and capability to manage confidential information responsibly.
