Lead Swiss CNC Machinist

We are seeking a Lead Swiss CNC Machinist to join our team and play a vital role in driving our production operations. In this position, you will utilize your expertise in programming, setup, and optimization to ensure the production of high-quality parts while improving efficiency and supporting team success.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Setup:

  • Program and set up Swiss CNC machines, selecting appropriate methodologies, tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds to meet product specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints and solid part models to develop programs that ensure precision and process optimization.

Process Optimization:

  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine the best sequence of operations and maximize setup efficiency.
  • Create detailed setup sheets to guide production processes and ensure accuracy.

Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor and verify the accuracy of initial job setups and final part outcomes, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Revise programs and documentation as needed to accommodate engineering changes and updates.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead initiatives focused on reducing machine time, improving tool performance, and testing new product programs.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop inspection methods, perform First Article Inspections (FAIs), and implement in-process quality checks.

Shop Floor Support:

  • Provide hands-on assistance with inspection methods, training machinists, addressing machine alarms, and troubleshooting programming issues.
  • Work closely with the tool room to design and develop work-holding fixtures and prints.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Communicate with the department manager to ensure upcoming and ongoing jobs are on track.
  • Partner with the Quality department to establish robust inspection processes and ensure adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Swiss CNC Machines: Demonstrated experience in programming and setting up Swiss CNC machines, with strong knowledge of tooling selection, speeds, and feeds.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong focus on process optimization, troubleshooting, and machine efficiency improvements.
  • Quality Control Knowledge: Experience with inspection methods, quality assurance processes, and conducting First Article Inspections (FAIs).
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate across departments, provide technical support, and lead team training efforts.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to delivering high-quality parts that meet or exceed product specifications.
