GENERAL SUMMARY:

Major and established company with a huge majority market share in what they manufacture and a good working culture has an opportunity on the day shift for a Controls Technician in the Atlanta areaThe Controls Technician will participate in cell design, along with the integration of controls and installation of automated equipment. The technician is responsible for assisting in configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting controls, as well as other automated systems used in production.   The location is southwest suburban Atlanta, GA.  There is an attractive hourly rate.   OT is paid at time and 1/2.  Also, perfect attendance in week will add $1.00 an hour to your pay for that week.   There are major company benefits and an attractive 401K with matching.

Their primary goal is to increase the efficiency and uptime of equipment by performing the following duties:

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")  General and other duties as assigned.

 

Level I

  1. Pneumatics:  Work with pneumatics and principles of compressed air.
  2. Hydraulics:  Work with hydraulics and principles of fluid mechanics.
  3. Electrical:  Work with circuits from 120 to 480 volts and other electrical related tasks to include AC and DC power and circuit boards.
  4. Assist in the construction of automated equipment, collaborating closely with engineers.
  5. Testing control systems to ensure they are working properly before use.

Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities)

  1. Plumbing related tasks include:  Layout and installation of all types of plumbing systems including sweat, glued, screwed, welded connections; Interpreting isometric drawings.
  2. Electrical related tasks include: Use of electrical test equipment to take voltage and current readings and conduct ohm testing.
  3. Installing and programming controls equipment in a manufacturing facility.
  4. Troubleshooting issues – both electrical and mechanical – that arise with automated equipment.
  5. Troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
  6. Make repairs to equipment, such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, or servomotors.

 

 

 

Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities)

  1. Pneumatics:  Install air logic controls from prints or schematics.
  2. Hydraulic:  Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits containing the following components, check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, directional control valves, pressure control valves.
  3. Troubleshoot PLC systems using computer.
  4. Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, and robot controllers.
  5. Use knowledge of all fabrication equipment to complete maintenance tasks.
  6. Operating the equipment or overseeing the operation of equipment.
  7. Analyzing and categorizing events within the equipment.
  8. Working closely with engineers and production team to help achieve a desired output.
  9. Conducting preventative maintenance, such as routine upgrades and inspections.
  10. Repairing machine controls, systems, and tools as needed.
  11. Disassembling (or re-assembling) equipment to repair or replace defective parts.
  12. Training others to install, use, and service equipment.

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Level I - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  1. Level II - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  1. Level III - Technical training certificates or associate degree, six to eight years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

 

  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

  1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts.
