Restaurant Group is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead back-of-house operations at one of Kansas City’s most iconic barbecue destinations.

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in a high-volume, full-service environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives on the line, builds strong teams, and delivers excellence every shift.

Day in the Life:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, speed, and safety meet company standards
  • Manage prep and line execution for high-volume, scratch-made food service
  • Lead, train, and develop back-of-house team members
  • Maintain strong presence on the line during peak service periods
  • Monitor labor, food cost, and waste to drive operational efficiency
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless service
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and product quality
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and pride
  • Lead by example in every aspect of kitchen execution

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of kitchen leadership experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe Certified or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with inventory management, ordering, and food cost control
  • Proven ability to train, develop, and lead cohesive teams
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
  • Reliable, driven, and passionate about food and team development
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
