A high-volume, culture-driven restaurant concept is looking for an Executive Chef to lead our kitchen at one of the most culturally significant and high-energy dining concepts in Detroit.
This is a full-service restaurant rooted in the celebration of African American culture, delivering authentic soul food with exceptional hospitality in a vibrant, high-energy environment. Day in the Life:
- Oversee all back-of-house operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency
- Lead, train, and develop kitchen staff in a high-volume, team-driven environment
- Maintain strict food quality, presentation, and sanitation standards
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations
- Manage inventory, ordering, and cost controls to drive profitability
- Uphold cleanliness and organization across all kitchen and facility areas
- Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining accountability
- Maintain composure and leadership during peak service and high-pressure situations
- Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless guest experiences
- Foster a culture of professionalism, integrity, and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Kitchen Manager, Executive Sous Chef, or similar leadership role in a high-volume, full-service environment
- Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, professional, team-centric kitchen
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate, follow through, and develop teams
- High attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and operational standards
- Excellent communication skills and ability to give and receive feedback
- Calm, level-headed approach in high-pressure environments
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- High integrity, humility, and accountability
- Ability to uphold and enforce high standards across all areas of the operation
