Operations Manager Job Description

About the Role

The operations manager will oversee daily plant operations, ensuring the efficient assembly of high-quality products delivered on time and within budget. This role requires proven leadership experience in a fast-paced, complex automotive manufacturing environment. Success in the position will depend on the ability to drive results, champion continuous improvement, and foster a productive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet delivery, quality, and cost targets while driving operational efficiency.
  • Lead production teams in continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and results.
  • Monitor and report on plant labor efficiencies and machine utilization to senior management.
  • Conducted performance evaluations for production supervisors and other reporting roles.
  • Ensure production, quality, and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to 5S housekeeping practices.
  • Evaluate and address downtime causes by leading 8D corrective actions when necessary.
  • Proactively identify and resolve problems and conflicts constructively.
  • Facilitate and participate in regular team and management meetings with a positive, results-driven approach.
  • Manage and supervise Team Leaders and production employees, ensuring efficient completion of production and delivery schedules.
  • Oversee training and development for supervisors, Team Leaders, and Technicians to fulfill technical and leadership responsibilities.
  • Enforce strict compliance with Quality Control standards to reinforce the company's reputation as a top-quality manufacturer.
  • Communicate effectively with employees to cultivate trust, understanding, and a positive work atmosphere.
  • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement that enhance profitability.
  • Comply with all corporate safety policies and emergency protocols.

Education and Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required (preferably in a related field).
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Role-specific focus on leadership, with demonstrated success in leading teams to achieve results through collaboration and delegation.
  • Detailed understanding of financial and budgetary controls relevant to manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency and experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience managing new program launches.
  • Professional demeanor, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage subordinates tactfully and diplomatically.
