We’re currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller - Accountant - to join our Finance and Accounting team.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounting transactions, and supporting the monthly close process. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to work cross functionally with other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries with proper documentation and approvals • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes • Analyze financial statements for accuracy and compliance • Support internal and external audits by preparing the required documentation • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. File PPT returns at year-end • Assist in the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes. Work with consultants to edit/create necessary reports and system upgrades. • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting • File required payroll taxes (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) Respond and resolve tax notices • Year-end filings including W-2’s, 1099’s, ACA Reporting, etc. • Prepare workpapers for CPA annual tax returns
• Maintain multi-state records, filings, etc. • Support monthly customer billing activities • Other duties that impact the accounting team
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field • 2–5 years of experience in general ledger or corporate accounting (ideally in the construction industry with multi-State experience). • Strong understanding of US GAAP • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage - Timberline, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a plus • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
• CPA or working toward CPA certification • Experience in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, tech, services] • Knowledge of internal controls
