Role:  Industrial Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program

Pro Services is excited to announce the expansion of our maintenance team and the opportunity for career-driven individuals in or around the Indianapolis area to join our Industrial Maintenance Apprentice program in Portage, MI.

The apprentice program offers a great opportunity for individuals to temporarily relocate from Indianapolis to Portage MI for a 14-week program. The program not only includes valuable training but also provides full benefits, housing, and weekly meal stipends, ensuring that the apprentices can focus on their learning and development without worrying about basic necessities.
 
Upon completion of the program, the apprentices will return home to the Indianapolis metro area and be placed with a customer to further their progress in earning their journeyman card. This hands-on experience will allow them to apply the skills and knowledge gained during the program in a real-world setting, setting them up for success in their career.

Job Overview:

The Apprenticeship program is responsible for building strong Industrial Maintenance Technicians for a career with Pro Services through high performance and effective execution of industrial maintenance related functions at our customer sites.  The industrial reliability apprentice technician will be responsible for testing and troubleshooting machines and equipment for proper functioning during production and being able to respond quickly when issues arise.  They will act as the technical representative for Pro Services at the customer site and will be required to interact with both customer maintenance staff and maintenance leadership.  This position requires a strong focus on quality and safety.  The successful candidate will be required to follow all safety and company policies and actively participate in creating and maintaining a safe work environment while improving operations. The position requires the ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to a changing work schedule.  This individual should have a passion for our business, and a desire to improve the maintenance experience of our customer base.  This position will report to either a Pro Services Account Manager or Program Manager and could have an additional reporting relationship with customer site maintenance leadership.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Follow all safety and company policies and actively participate in creating a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Perform and record regular preventative (routine) maintenance, startups, and installation of parts per machine manuals.
  • Perform and record non-routine (break/fix) maintenance. Trouble shoot, repair and maintain all types and brands of customer equipment at a basic level.  Includes dismantling machines to gain access for troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to diagnose and locate cause of malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and fluid power systems at a basic level.
  • The apprentice will be required to relocate within the continental US.
  • The apprentice will be required to complete a minimum of 3900 hours to obtain their journeyman status. 

Daily Physical Demands

·        Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

·        Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds and bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.

·        Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, squat, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.

·        Use fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

·        Must be able to visually inspect machines.

·        Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.

·        Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.

·        Must be able to traverse wet, slippery, unsteady, irregular, narrow, vibrating or moving surfaces.

·        Site specific physical and safety requirements may apply.

·        Ability to wear job specific PPE required.

Qualifications:

  • HS/GED and 1-3 years hands-on experience in a maintenance related field. (Manufacturing setting is preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Complete and pass a mechanical aptitude assessment.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have proven organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining timeliness and accuracy. 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Suite (G Suite).
