Customer Quality Engineer

Location: Milford, MICompensation: $65,000 - $85,000 (excellent benefits) 

 

SUMMARYPlans and leads activities related to the development, use, and maintenance of Quality standards for manufacturing activities, materials, and products for customer programs. Leads all Quality Assurance/Control functions for assigned Programs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Active participant in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process.·         Responsible for completing all Quality Department tasks for specific programs.
·         Coordinates activities and compiles information for PPAP submissions.
·         Develops and initiates standards and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
·         Create sampling procedures, design and develop documentation and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting Quality.                                                                                      
·         Maintain monthly customer concerns reports, update Paynter Charts, and related documentation.              
·         Ensure compliance to established methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant materials, and devise methods to assess responsibility and cost.      
·         Interaction with OEM and tiered customers on quality activities. Attend customer meetings (virtually and onsite) as required.
·         Write and compile training materials and conduct training sessions on all quality control activities.
·         Interaction with OEM and tiered customers on all program quality-related tasks and issues.
·         Active participation in Problem Solving/Root Cause Analysis. Writing of Corrective Action Plans in 8-D format.                                                                               

 REQUIREMENTS

·         Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field; or
·         Bachelor’s degree in a non-engineering field with ASQ Quality certifications (CQE, CQA, CQM)

·         Minimum 5 years’ experience in Customer-focused Quality Assurance/Control

·         Basic Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) knowledge·         Knowledge of Minitab a plus·         Knowledge of the requirements of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 (auditor training a plus)·         Experience interacting with Automotive OEM customers in AQP, PPAP and quality issues·         Knowledge of problem-solving techniques·         Experience working with FORD is a plus
