Established, profitable, high-profile organization is seeking a Payroll Manager to report to the CFO.  The Payroll Manager will be responsible for the following functions:
 
  • Champion the payroll process for hourly and salaried staff on a weekly basis for multiple companies with multiple pay schedules in multiple states 
  • Manage the payroll process and be able to handle confidential information on a daily basis 
  • Work as the system administrator to oversee the clock, attendance and payroll system, including managing any upgrades
  • Work with HR to ensure that time and attendance is complete every Monday morning in order to start processing payroll
  • Create bank files and prepare payroll payments 
  • Complete weekly payroll exceptions manually in the system
  • Close out payroll and create required payroll reports 
  • Complete state and federal taxes, including 941 forms for multiple states 
  • Troubleshoot payroll processes and serve as the site payroll expert
  • Initiate bonus payments, annual increases and vacation 
  • Oversee garnishments and child support deductions 
  • Prepare general ledger reports and ongoing reconciliation 
  • Manage the year-end payroll process, including reconciliation of all state and federal taxes, federal unemployment and payroll payments 
  • Reset health insurance and open enrollment annually 
  • Other duties as delegated by the manager
 
This is a fast-paced environment.  Candidates will be required to be flexible with their work requirements and tasks.  This position does require candidates to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to meet deadlines and be able to manage multiple projects at a time.  Thoroughness, teamwork and being detail oriented with excellent problem solving skills are key in this position.  Candidates should be patient and able to communicate at all levels. This is a salaried position with 401K, life insurance, medical, dental, vision, vacation and paid holidays, as well as quarterly bonus and annual bonus potential. REQUIREMENTS for the Payroll Manager:1. Minimum of an Associate's degree, ideally in Accounting or Finance 2. At least two years in a similar payroll processing position 3. Experience processing payroll internally and overseeing the payroll system 4. Experience filing monthly, quarterly and yearly state and federal taxes
5. Experience working with an HRIS or accounting software system to process payroll 
6. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word and ExcelSkills preferred but NOT required: 1. Manufacturing experience 2. Experience processing payroll for multiple companies, multiple states and/or multiple payment schedules
