Manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Project Design Engineer to work in their project engineering team.  The Mechanical Project Design Engineer will report to the Engineering Lead and will be the site expert for all mechanical projects at the site.  Daily responsibilities will include:
 
  • Maintain and improve the mechanical project design engineering process 
  • Utilize 2D and 3D software to design projects related to plant, line, cell and workstation layouts 
  • Work with process engineering teams to finalize project engineering initiatives, research cost of projects and present the projects to management for approval
  • Lead cross-functional teams to complete demo, installation and startup of projects 
  • Manage timelines and budgets ranging up to 5M per project 
  • Facilitate timelines, schedules and planning with internal and external teams 
  • Establish continuous improvement directives related to mechanical projects  
  • Complete detailed data analysis 
  • Oversee up to 2-4 projects at a time with varying budgets and timelines 
  • Communicate with internal and external partners on the status of project timelines, including coordinating and leading teams 
  • Other engineering tasks as assigned
 
Candidates should be interested in leading teams to meet mechanical project initiatives.  Up to 20% of this job is spent on design of plant, cell, line and workstation layouts.  This position involves heavy data acquisition and analysis.  Candidates should be able to manage their own projects with minimal supervision, be able to build rapport on the manufacturing floor and enjoy working within a team of engineers.  This position requires candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 20% of their day, potentially more during project work.  Individuals should have excellent floor communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with front line associates. Medical benefits are available the first of the month after 30 days of employment.  Holidays, vacation, relocation assistance, 401K and annual bonus potential!  This position does require candidates to work over holiday shutdowns and some weekends to complete projects. REQUIREMENTS for the Mechanical Project Design Engineer:1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technologies, Manufacturing Technologies and Industrial Technologies highly preferred 2. At least two years of similar mechanical project design engineering experience at a manufacturing site 
3. Project management skills, including management of timelines and budgets 4. Design of plant, line, cell and workstation layouts
5. Capital equipment project management 6. AutoCAD
7. Microsoft Office, specifically ExcelSkills preferred but NOT required:1. Automotive manufacturing work experience2. Strong mechanical aptitude 3. Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies4. Strong data analysis skills
