Non-automotive, non-union, diverse manufacturer is seeking a Sr. Production Manager to assist them in maximizing CI opportunities and improving throughput at the Brighton, Michigan site.  As the Sr. Production Manager, you will develop and coach direct and indirect reports in production to meet and exceed production goals.  Your daily responsibilities will include:
 
  • Coach, mentor and develop current direct and indirect reports to exceed their individual goals
  • Ensure that key performance indicators are in place, work on monitoring and improving KPIs
  • Improve the pace of accountability and management by improving communication with daily/weekly meetings and updates
  • Review delivery standards, including evaluating the on-time delivery, product flow and any challenges in getting product out the door in a timely manner
  • Identify process improvements and initiate group participation on CI activity 
  • Oversee project management, including plant layout and driving change and improvements on the production floor  
  • Ensure sustainability by making sure that areas are operating consistently
  • Champion environmental, health and safety initiatives for the site 
  • Maintain and improve communication on plant projects, including getting with internal partners on ensuring that plant projects and CI activities run smoothly and are well-planned
  • Manage the production schedule to improve the scheduling process, by understanding the “big picture” and capacity
  • Hold supervisors accountable and maintain consistent management practices
  • Develop your leadership team and create a succession plan for current staff and any potential new hires
  • Infuse character, passion and charisma into the position; be a strong leader and act as a change agent for production 
  • Value the data that is provided by reviewing and understanding scorecards, reviewing each individual work center and running necessary reports to determine how to move forward with improvements, scrap reductions and cost savings
  • Lead production meetings and educate workforce on goals and initiatives 
  • Have a passion for systems excellence and creating manufacturing centers of excellence 
  • Other duties as directed by management 
 
The company is seeking a candidate that enjoys spending up to 50-70% of their day on the manufacturing floor.  Candidates should feel comfortable being a "change agent," able to take ownership of production, lead by example, coach and mentor their staff and have the ability to hold others accountable.  The qualified individual will be passionate about continuous improvement, establishing consistent processes and meeting KPIs based on data-driven information.  The company offers competitive medical benefits, 401K match of 100% up to 5% and an annual bonus potential! 
 
REQUIREMENTS for the Sr. Production Manager:
1. Bachelor's degree is preferred, not required, ideally in operations, engineering or supply chain​ 
2. At least 3-5 years of similar manufacturing operations management experience
3. Experience working in machining environments, ideally tight tolerances 
4. ​Experience managing both direct and indirect reports
5. Experience overseeing multiple shifts 
6. Experience managing a workforce of at least 25 people 
7. A proven track record of measurable continuous improvements
8. Project management experience, including timelines 
9. ERP ​system ​experience 
10. Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel 
 
Skills preferred but NOT required:1. Formal Lean and/or Six Sigma training or certifications 
2. Low volume, high mix manufacturing environments
3. CNC programming 
4. Non-union supervision 
5. Production scheduling experience 
6. Strong mechanical aptitude

Candidates are required to be local to Brighton, Michigan.  There is not any relocation available at this time.
