Non-automotive, non-union, diverse manufacturer is seeking a Quality Supervisor to assist them in developing and improving quality systems at the Brighton, Michigan site. As the Quality Supervisor, you will give daily direction to two Quality Inspectors and will report to the Plant Manager. Daily responsibilities will include:
- Develop and improve the site quality system
- Ensure that the floor is running smoothly and confirm that tests and audits are completed in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot quality issues, including completing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Utilize formal problem solving techniques
- Develop and improve work instructions
- Complete supplier audits and work with suppliers to minimize quality issues
- Oversee and perform lab activities and testing
- Communicate with engineering on non-conformances
- Support the Plant Manager on any customer quality issues
- Travel to suppliers and customers as needed to complete analysis and audits
- Participate in cross-functional teams to meet production and improve quality standards
- Utilize the company's ERP system to document quality processes
- Additional tasks as assigned by management
The company is seeking a candidate that enjoys spending up to 80% of their day in the lab and on the manufacturing floor. This is a hands-on position that will perform daily audits and tests to ensure quality conformance. Candidates should be able to take ownership of quality projects, lead by example, have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships with team members and operations. REQUIREMENTS for the Quality Supervisor:
1. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
2. At least 5-8 years of similar manufacturing quality experience
3. Experience working in machining environments with tight tolerances
4. Experience providing daily direction to others
5. Formal problem solving skills
6. Experience participating in root cause analysis and corrective actions
7. Experience participating in quality audits
8. Experience utilizing inspection hand tools and lab equipment
9. Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Skills preferred but NOT required:1. Job shop environments, specifically low volume, high mix manufacturing environments
2. ISO or TS quality certification
3. Supplier quality experience
4. CMM programming software, such as PC-DMIS or Calypso
5. ERP systems
