Our client is a full-service law firm that has been serving clients for over 150 years. They are seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its commercial loan workout and foreclosure department. Knowledge of New Jersey and/or New York foreclosure procedure is a plus and requires expertise in commercial loan workouts and mortgage foreclosure litigation. This role can be based in either of its New Jersey (Bergen County) or New York offices. (NYC or Nassau County)

The candidate will handle loan workout negotiations, foreclosure matters, conduct legal research, draft motions, manage discovery, and represent clients in court proceedings in New York and New Jersey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently handle commercial mortgage foreclosure cases from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and court documents.
  • Manage a foreclosure litigation caseload, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Represent clients in court, including trials, hearings, and depositions.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to deliver top-notch legal services.
  • Handle client communications, including consultations and updates on case developments.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey and/or New York State Bar.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in foreclosure litigation.
  •  Knowledge of New Jersey foreclosure procedure is a must.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  •  Proven track record in handling litigation from inception to trial.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of foreclosure laws, regulations, and procedures in New York and/or New Jersey

Requirements and Skill Set:

  • In-depth understanding of foreclosure laws and regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of accuracy in managing legal documents and procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Familiarity with foreclosure software and related systems, including but not limited to Lexus Nexus
Salary is between 130-175K (DOE) and solid benefits
