About the JobWe are seeking a Systems Engineer – Refrigeration to lead engineering teams in developing system-level architecture, integration, and execution across multiple foodservice product lines. In this role, you will work closely with Technical Product Managers to translate high-level requirements into system-level specifications, define key technical interfaces between subsystems, and drive a modular approach to product development. You will also oversee the integration, verification, and validation of these systems to ensure they meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. What You’ll Do
Serve as the technical lead for a major engineering initiative encompassing multiple product variants.
Collaborate cross-functionally to conceptualize and develop new products or enhance existing ones, managing system-level requirements and interfaces across mechanical, electrical, functional, and data/communication domains.
Work alongside the refrigeration principal engineer to define the refrigeration system architecture and technology roadmap while guiding its implementation in product development.
Apply a V-model approach to requirement management, ensuring traceability from initial elicitation through system integration, verification, and validation.
Mentor junior engineers, establishing best practices and fostering process consistency across the team.
Lead project teams in defining scope, setting priorities, and managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery while meeting customer and quality expectations.
Guide engineering teams through technical problem-solving, ensuring designs align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with reliability teams to ensure product designs meet or exceed performance and durability requirements.
Oversee the design, testing, and regulatory compliance process for refrigeration sealed systems, with a focus on flammable, low-GWP refrigerants across product lines.
Develop detailed technical specifications for suppliers, integrate design for manufacturing and design for assembly principles, and support supplier selection and qualification processes.
Manage the impact of change process in collaboration with program and product management teams throughout the product lifecycle.
A collaborative partner who works effectively with cross-functional teams and communicates clearly.
A strategic thinker who applies analytical skills to approach problems methodically and execute solutions effectively.
A process optimizer who continuously seeks ways to improve engineering processes and engagement with cross-functional teams.
A self-starter who takes initiative and drives projects forward with minimal oversight.
A results-driven professional who maintains a strong focus on meeting or exceeding project goals.
A clear communicator who effectively conveys technical information to team members and stakeholders.
Skills and Experience We’re Looking For
Strong experience in writing technical requirements and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Proven expertise in refrigeration system design, product development, and launching new products, with hands-on experience in system testing, optimization, and troubleshooting.
System level thinking with a holistic approach to analyzing how individual components interact and impact overall performance.
Knowledge of electro-mechanical system design and the interactions between mechanical, electronic, and control systems.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements such as UL, NSF, DOE, IEC, ETL, ISO, and EN.
Experience leading teams through all levels of the V-model, from concept to final validation.
Experience applying engineering methodologies such as concept selection matrices, failure mode analysis, and design validation planning.
Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, including design of experiments, analysis of variance, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques.
Experience with the advanced product quality planning framework for product and process development.
Proficiency in industry-standard CAD and PLM systems.
Understanding of simulation capabilities and their application in engineering design.
Experience with model-based design or model-based systems engineering is a plus.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
Nine or more years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, and launching complex refrigeration systems, products, and solutions.
