Our client is seeking an experienced professional to write, edit, and oversee the production of a weekly Asphalt Report to provide North American pricing, critical market insights and in-depth analysis of adjacent markets. The successful candidate will also spend time developing new products and services and working with industry leaders to introduce them to new and existing services.

This is an exciting opportunity to analyze supply, demand and trade of dynamic asphalt markets. In order to be considered, you will need relevant experience / market knowledge, in one of the following areas: Asphalt, Fuel Oil, Petroleum Coke, Base Oils, Refined Products or Gasoline. This position has a generous base salary plus bonus compensation!

Primary Responsibilities

• Contribute to the production of a weekly Asphalt market report:
• Assess North American asphalt prices, market condition and fundamentals.
• Research and write stories on a range of Asphalt-related topics including market development, fundamentals of global supply and demand, new projects, etc. 
•  Collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain an accurate view of critical market and industry developments.
• Coordinate production of final products with consulting, graphics, and production staff.
• Meet with clients, prospects, and market sources in the US and abroad to promote the company’s products, services  and thought leadership.
• Gather information and develop additional sources of information.  
• Develop an authoritative reporting voice across the asphalt product line and represent the company at industry events and bilateral meetings.

Additional Duties

• Represent the company and our views by presenting at industry conferences and webinars.
• Contribute to the strategic vision and guidance of the asphalt subscription business.
• Collaborate to develop new products and services and provide insights for short-term forecasts and analytical products.
• Collaborate with the sales teams to achieve sales of editorial products and services.
• Set up and attend meetings with sales team to increase product sales.
• Help draft marketing copy to support the development of online and email marketing initiatives.

Requirements

• 3+ years’ experience in energy journalism, the asphalt business, market reporting, commodities, or commodity consulting.
• Must have relevant market experience in one of the following areas: Asphalt, Fuel Oil, Petroleum Coke, Base Oils, Refined Products or Gasoline. 
• Self-starter able to drive a business forward, independently manage time and set priorities.
• Familiarity with databases, data products, and basic analytics.
• Must have a strong desire to develop and nurture industry relationships in order to grow brand awareness and increase market share.
