Job Title: Purchasing and Logistics Specialist
Location: Louisville, KY
Pay Rate: $27 – $30 per hour
Shift Hours: Full-Time, Day Shift

About the Role
Our client is seeking a Purchasing and Logistics Specialist to manage and optimize purchasing and logistics functions. This role will be responsible for developing and executing cost-effective purchasing strategies, ensuring timely procurement of materials, and overseeing inbound and outbound logistics. The position requires strong vendor negotiation skills, food manufacturing experience, and the ability to maintain an efficient and compliant supply chain. This position reports directly to the CEO with corporate guidance from the Executive Chairman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed purchasing and logistics functions to ensure timely, cost-effective supply of inputs and uninterrupted production.

  • Negotiate with vendors and supply partners for optimal pricing, quality, and delivery of materials.

  • Evaluate open orders daily to guarantee timely delivery of all required inputs.

  • Monitor BOMs and specifications for accuracy and maintain records in QuickBooks.

  • Partner with the Sr. QA Manager to ensure vendor compliance with SQF standards.

  • Maintain and update the approved vendor register and supply criteria at least annually.

  • Stay current on market conditions, pricing, industry trends, and competitor purchasing/logistics strategies.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, or a related technical field preferred.

  • 5–7 years of experience in purchasing and logistics, preferably in food manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.

  • Analytical and mathematical proficiency with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage digital tasks effectively and efficiently.

  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and positive attitude.

  • Adaptable, dependable, and able to work collaboratively with stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 30 lbs.

  • Ability to work in both office and food/beverage plant environments.

  • Capable of operating office equipment requiring frequent use of hands and fingers.

  • Average visual acuity and ability to hear normal conversations, even in noisy settings.

  • Minimal travel required, with occasional visits to vendor facilities for audits or FATs.
